Elk leather is one of the thickest leathers there is - very stable and almost indestructible. At the same time, there is hardly any leather that is as fine and soft as elk leather.
The strap is extremely comfortable to wear, extremely resilient and also a very individual camera accessory. Thanks to EDDYCAM, you can carry your camera for hours without pulling your neck or shoulder - our elk leather camera straps are exceptionally cuddly. This is not least due to the precise setting options using high-quality stainless steel clamps and the integrated cushion made of natural rubber. In addition, most of the camera straps are made by hand in a small factory in Bavaria. EDDYCAM is "Made in Germany". Learn more about the The Brand our camera straps.
In the Concepts Our camera straps have many years of experience in the field of photography and photo equipment. The high quality of the handcrafted elk leather camera straps is largely due to the materials used. For example, our tannery in Finland only selects the best hides for further processing. In addition, an EDDYCAM belt goes through many strict quality controls before it is dispatched.
The elk leather camera strap can be used anywhere. Whether oppressive heat, icy cold or high humidity - EDDYCAM is an (almost) indestructible camera accessory. The resistant leather is coated with a special wax. Even the most unfavorable weather conditions cannot harm our belts. This treatment also makes the EDDYCAM belts particularly easy to care for and easy to clean. Find out more about cleaning your elk leather camera strap right here.
EDDYCAM sources its elk leather from a tannery in Finland. Scandinavian elk leather is used for production without exception. The skins come from wild elks that are hunted under strict conditions. The elk is a common, non-endangered species in Northern Europe. Due to the lack of natural enemies, moose must be hunted to keep the population within limits and to ensure the protection of the forests.

Ambitious amateur photographers as well as photography professionals should be absolutely satisfied with their elk leather camera strap - for this the strap has to fit perfectly. Thanks to their special shape, EDDYCAM camera straps are comfortable to wear even under extreme conditions. You decide how you like to carry your camera most comfortably. Basically, it can be carried in three ways:
- On the shoulder
- Around the neck or on the nape of the neck
- Diagonal on the body ("Cross")
There are two ways to attach an EDDYCAM camera strap to your camera. They depend on your particular camera model.
For cameras with fixed eyelets or with round or triangular rings for 12mm tape material, proceed as follows:
- Pull the stainless steel clamps all the way up on both sides.
- Put the camera strap around the way you want to carry your camera later.
- Feed the connecting tape through the stainless steel belt clamp from below.
- On the other side of the clamp, feed the strap back in to thread the stainless steel clamp.
- Then pull the tape through the eyelet, which is located directly on the camera, or through the round or triangular ring that will later be attached to the camera eyelet.
- Now pull the band first through the lower opening of the stainless steel clamp, then through the upper stainless steel clamp.
- Finally, tighten the connecting tape for a secure attachment.
- Finally, check that the fastening is secure.
Some EDDYCAM models have two stainless steel clips on each side. This is used on the one hand to securely attach even the heaviest camera models, but mainly to attach the protruding tape material.
If your camera only has small round eyelets without connecting rings (e.g. Leica M), simply order such rings from ours Online Store under the term "special accessories". Then simply proceed as described above to attach the belt.
So that the belt can be adjusted perfectly and the settings are identical for both connecting straps, simply follow the instructions below:
- Pull the stainless steel clamps all the way up on both sides.
- Put the camera strap around the way you want to carry your camera later.
- Now push a stainless steel clamp to the height at which the camera is to be carried - you have already determined the right length.
- Remove the strap and use a pen to mark the lower end of the stainless steel clamp. Now slide the clamp back up.
- Now fold the belt in such a way that the two leather end pieces are exactly on top of one another. Now you can transfer the exact length to the other connecting tape.
- Now pull the tape from the outside to the inside through the eyelet on the camera or the eyelet on the connection ring. The eyelets should now be in the marked positions.
- Now pull the stainless steel clamps to about the middle height of the protruding band and thread this band through the clamp. To do this, give in some tape from above.
- Finally, check that the fastening is secure.
Some EDDYCAM models have two stainless steel clips on each side. This is used on the one hand to securely attach even the heaviest camera models, but mainly to attach the protruding tape material.
Caution: If you want to wear your camera strap diagonally on your body, we recommend that you do not cut the strap. You need the greatest possible length of the camera strap for this.
If you decide to shorten the strap, proceed as follows: Carefully cut off the excess connecting tape with scissors and heat the ends in a heat source (e.g. flame) so that the individual threads melt together. Be careful not to injure yourself or damage the belt.
The leather for our camera straps is completely dyed through. This approach makes the elk leather particularly soft and easy to grip; a natural appearance is retained. This is why our camera straps are particularly colourfast - you do not need to worry about normal use. However, staining is possible if you wear the belt for a particularly long time, expose it to excessive heat or sweat excessively.
EDDYCAM elk leather camera straps were designed for use under extreme conditions. An EDDYCAM is therefore very easy to wear even under such conditions. The edges of the camera strap are designed in such a way that they cause as little friction as possible on the skin. The EDDYCAM may absorb sweat or rain like a sponge in extreme humidity. That is harmless. Simply let your elk leather belt air dry at normal room temperature for one to two days. Hairdryers, heating, irons, microwaves and tumble dryers are not suitable for drying because they can damage the leather.
Gently wipe your elk leather camera strap with a soft, damp cloth to remove any dirt. Here you can find out more about the Facial Cleansing Your EDDYCAM.
EDDYCAM camera straps do not require any special care. Just make sure that you keep the belt in a dry, shady place, especially if you will not be using the belt for a long time. When storing in the photo bag, please leave it open. The EDDYCAM camera strap has been tested very intensively for UV radiation. Even after a long time there was no fatigue of the material and no color changes. Nevertheless, we recommend that you do not expose the elk leather belts to permanent sunlight at the window or outdoors.
